Lakin’s Gorges Cheese

RicottaLakin’s Gorges Cheese LLC owner and cheesemaker Allison Lakin makes fresh and aged cow’s milk cheese in Rockport, Maine. Made by hand in small batches using organic milk from Tide Mill Organic Farm and organic, vegetarian rennet.

Currently available in markets and restaurants around Maine, now available in Boston, MA and New Haven, CT.

BASKET MOLDED ,WHOLE COW’S RICOTTA. This is not your supermarket ricotta! Firm enough to slice and eat with fresh fruit, but creamy enough to blend in your favorite sweet or savory dish.

“Medallion,” a 2 ounce, soft ripened cheese aged 2 weeks; notes of citrus and fresh mushrooms

“Prix de Diane, ” a bloomy rind cheese, aged 4 weeks; creamy and buttery

“Opus 42,” a 6 pound, mold ripened, aged 3 months, semi-hard wheel, nutty and sharp

“Morgan, ” a firm 1/2 pound mold ripened wheel, aged 3 months; salty and grassy

Talk of the Town Farm

Talk of the Town Farm is a small goat dairy located in Connor TWP, Maine. We are just north of Caribou and we are currently the only licensed goat dairy in Aroostook County. We are still growing our herd of Nubians, La Manchas and a few crosses.

Currently we offer raw goat milk. We plan to have fresh Chevre and yogurt in August. Our products can be found at the Caribou Farmers’ Market on Wednesdays 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until fall. We are also at the Bread of Life store in Presque Isle and Sleeper’s Market in Caribou.

Come taste our wonderful milk from our hard working girls!
