Good Food Awards 2013

Good Food AwardsDear Good Food Community,

We are excited to announce that year three of the Good Food Awards has begun! The awards are the first national initiative to recognize food and beverage crafters for excellence in taste and sustainability. The Call for Entries to this year’s Good Food Awards goes out to those who produce food that is delicious, respectful of the environment, and connected to communities and cultural traditions.

The Good Food Awards help to elevate food and beverage producers who strengthen agricultural communities and redefine craftsmanship in their industry by providing concrete business opportunities and high-profile national press to winning producers. In January, all winners will be honored at a ceremony in front of national buyers, media and industry leaders, and invited to sell at a 15,000 person public marketplace at the San Francisco Ferry Building. It is estimated that last year’s winners cumulatively invested an increased $800,000 in local farms to fulfill the new demand for their award-winning foods, and reported sales increases from 25 to, in one case, 400%, showing the boon that winning can have for food and beverage producers and the farms growing their ingredients.

All beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, pickles, preserves, spirits and, new this year, confections are welcome to enter the blind tasting with Alice Waters, Nell Newman and 120 other industry experts. The sustainability criteria for each category and more information about the Good Food Awards can be found at our website. Deadline for entry is August 31.
